GROUP CLASSES create a stimulating environment which helps the dog to learn and respond to commands even while distracted. We teach YOU to train your dog. With classes you are learning and bonding with your dog over the entire training course. We're also at your disposal, hands on, for immediate help each week. Gathering with others with same interests and goals is also fun! (a few marriages have resulted between students over the years) Sharing experiences & successes with others is great for the human pupils too. Private sessions of an hour or two with a trainer showing you how to do training will not result in a bond between you and your dog. Some trainers recommend against classes because they can't offer them if they don't have a facility in which to do so. Private sessions have their place.
Linda and Doug Hamilton took over Pets Plus Obedience School in 1997 after apprenticing under the original owner/trainer for more than 4 years. They have competed and titled in obedience as well as having a great interest in dog behaviour. Both have taken hands on seminars relating to behaviour issues in dogs, focussing especially on aggression. As well both have served at one time as moderators on the busiest (at the time) behaviour and training forum at Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson's website Great Pets.com Their experience is vast having dealt with thousands of dogs and almost all breeds, temperaments and issues.

Classes vs. Private Lessons
In some cases it may be very beneficial to do PRIVATE LESSONS first. Aggression issues or extreme timidness need to be dealt with in a calmer environment. Perhaps the owner cannot come to or feels a little intimidated by a class We offer private consults as well for these cases either in our facility or in the privacy of your own home.
